Faculty and Students from the Global Indigenous Nations Studies program attended the seventh annual Tribal College Forum hosted by Haskell Indian Nations University and co sponsored among others by KU CRESIS. The forum, “Climate Crises and Water Nations are Calling for Awakening” was a joint conference between NativeView Inc. and the American Indian and Alaska Native Climate Change Working Group.

Nikhat Ghouse, social sciences librarian for anthropology, global indigenous nations studies and religious studies, presented her poster, titled "It's Your Library Too: Reach Out to Diverse Populations," at the American Library Association's annual conference, held June 30, 2008 in Anaheim, Calif.
Graduate Mandy Cisneros has been admitted to the KU School of Law where she will attend this fall 08.

Angelique EagleWoman (Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota Oyate) chosen as the 2008 Crystal Eagle Award Winner.
Angelique was a visiting assistant professor of law, jointly in indigenous nations studies and the KU School of Law. Indigenous nations studies students annually choose a winner for the award who has shown leadership and dedication toward helping community members or students within indigenous communities. The award was presented to her on May 11th at the Indigenous Nations Studies’ Crystal Eagle banquet.
